Project Logistics

Over the last 40 years, we have supported some of the largest Infrastructure, Mining and Oil & Gas projects across East and Central Africa with a full range of logistics services.

Today we are the leading project logistics group in the region providing end to end solutions for complex projects including detailed route surveys, specialist heavy lift transport and remote site materials handling.

Regionally, we are accredited to carry dangerous cargo including chemicals for the mining industry. All our drivers are highly trained and all dangerous goods are escorted by specially designed spill response equipped vehicles.

Out-of-Gauge and
Heavy Haulage

Our transport arms, Transeast and Mainline Carriers, specialise in the transport of heavy and out of gauge cargo to remote locations across East and Central Africa.

Our fleet of heavy lift vehicles and equipment includes hydraulic and modular low loaders, giving us the capacity to simultaneously move multiple loads allowing timely delivery.

With over 80 various types of material handling equipment vehicles and special trucks and trailers, our heavy lift division specialises in complex lifts for Oil & Gas equipment throughout the region. The Jacking and skidding equipment enables remote site off loading and positioning.

Capital Projects and Infrastructure

Standard Gauge Railway

Transport partner to China Road & Bridge Corporation for construction of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) in Kenya between Mombasa and Suswa.Delivered over 740kms (87,000MT) of rail lines, 25,000mt of loose and containerised cargo, machinery and 6 locomotives. Each locomotive (150MT) was loaded on a 16 line Scheuerle modular trailer, ensuring we are compliant with the Government axle road limits for heavy loads.
All the trailers for this project were specifically designed and fabricated for
the carriage of the 24m rails.

Metals and Mining

Kibali Gold Mine

Strategic partner to the largest African mine, Kibali Gold Mine in North Eastern DRC, providing full procurement and logistics services for the last 10 years. Our inbound supply chain services during the construction phase helped transform the vast Greenfield site to a top mine in the continent, and enabled the mine to start pouring gold 6 months ahead of their initial target date. We delivered all materials required to build the processing plant, 4 mill shells (over 440MT and 1,100CBM), over 32,000 truckloads (920,000MT) of dry goods (including reagents, cyanide, other hazardous cargo and mining equipment) and over 13,500 truckloads of fuel (425m litres).

DSV Boston US

The high value, highly sensitive ESN 736111 engine was loaded into a military aircraft, Y8F200 in Tanzania. We were then tasked to manage the movement on behalf of DSV. We managed transhipment at JKIA which included ensuring a Customs bond was executed on time, coordinating with KAA to ensure safe handover of the engine from military aircraft to the ground handler, inbound and outbound ground handling and handover of the engine for export.

Tullow Oil Kenya

We were appointed as a clearing agent by Tullow Oil Kenya after a competitive bid. Kenya’s history was enriched after joining oil exporting countries league on the 26th August 2019 when the maiden shipment of 200,000 barrels was flagged off to Malaysia.
The Early Oil Pilot Scheme (EOPS) project run by Tullow Kenya involved FFK working closely with stakeholders to make the export a success within the required time frame.
